During the autumn of 2005 I went to university in Southampton to study Politics and International Relations. A few weeks into the first term I got the full release version of The Final Scene, played a few gigs, sprained my ankle, and settled into being a student. This was actually when the next album was born (4 years before it finally got released). It is hard to say why it took so long, but it went through many phases of evolution including re-recording, re-writing, re-anything everything. It went with me through university and came out the other end. The longer it went on, the scarier the pressure on producing a masterpiece became (from myself) and I decided to self-title the album rather than using the original title Behind Closed Doors. It possessed my every waking thought and took up every spare moment that I had, it was very much a defining piece of work and went with me everywhere for 3 years. At risk of never letting go of it I decided to use John Rivers at Woodbine Street Studio to edit, mix and master it so that there was a cut off point at which there was no turning back. The result is a much more intense, gritty and epic album to The Final Scene. I used more musicians, more organic instruments and more volume.
I would love it if you could take the time to listen to the result. Lots of blood, sweat and tears went into the heart of it and so all I ask is that people consider giving it some time.
